Edward J. McDonald

Edward J. McDonald, 83, of Mar Lin, passed away Saturday at his residence.

Edward was born in Pottsville, July 3, 1934, a son of the late Anna and William McDonald. He was the husband of Carole Kamykoski McDonald, to whom he was married for 55 years.

He served in the Marine Corps in the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient.

Edward was a graduate of Pottsville High School, Class of 1956, and then attended Penn State University and Kutztown University. He received the Carnegie Melon award. He was also very active in many political and social clubs and was a member of St. Matthew the Evangelist Roman Catholic Parish, Minersville. Edward was last employed by at the State of Pennsylvania as a marketing director for the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

Edward was preceded in death by his son, Kevin McDonald; a brother, William McDonald Jr.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Sean McDonald, husband of Jessica, Haymarket, Va., and Brian McDonald, husband of Elaine, Pottsville; grandchildren, Samantha, Zachary, Patrick, Rebecca and Erin; a daughter-in-law, Tracey McDonald, Pottsville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Minersville. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home, Cressona, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Family request donations to Mar Lin Citizen's Hose Company, 402 Maple Ave., Mar Lin, PA 17951. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
