Welcome to the memorial page for

Arlan E. Krause

December 12, 1924 ~ December 3, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Arlan Krause, 92, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away peacefully Sunday with his loving family by his side.

Born in Summit Station, Dec. 12, 1924, he was a son of the late William H. and Stella L. Schneck Krause.

Together Arlan and his wife, Fern, were blessed with seven children, Ronald Mengel, husband of Esther “Cookie,” Donald Krause, Wayne Krause, husband of Christine, Arlan Krause, husband of Kathi, Debra Krause Koch, wife of Ron, and twins, Keith, husband of Trish, and Kevin Krause, as well as an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arlan never moved far from his birthplace. He spent most of his adult life on his farm in Summit Station. There, he enjoyed farming, raising pigs, steer and chicken. The farm flourished annually with a variety of fruit and vegetable crops used to feed his family and his animals. Arlan loved traveling with his wife and spending time with family. On any given day, Arlan, his brothers and friends could be heard conversing in Pennsylvania Dutch, his first language. Arlan proudly drove truck with the Arrow Co. for 33 years when he finally retired his handle of “Dusty Acres” in 1985. In 1990, Arlan and Fern moved a few miles away to their retirement home on Sunnyside Drive. There, he continued his love of gardening and taking care of his fruit trees and home.

Arlan was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Summer Hill, Summit Station Fire Company, and avid Teamster member and supporter. Following his wife’s passing, Arlan could be seen almost daily partaking in breakfast, lunch or dinner with family and or friends at the Friedensburg Country Restaurant. He also enjoyed a good hot dog while watching his great-grandchildren’s sporting events. He loved being out, about and on the go.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Fern Mengel Krause, to whom he was married for 58 years; his son, Donald Krause; great-grandson, Kaden Krause; brothers, Harry, Fred, William and Lester; sisters, Lillie and Annie Mae.

He is survived by his youngest brother, Claude Krause.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
