Howard Paul Harig, Sr., 79, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Sunday, April 8th, at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown.
Howard was born in Port Carbon, on December 24, 1938, a son of the late Emma (Swavely) and ClarenceHarig.
He was the husband of Joan V. (Yocum) Harig, to whom he was married for 57 years.
He was formerly employed at Blue Mountain Mac as a truck driver and mechanic, as well as the Miner's Fuel Co. and was a member of the Summit Station Fire Police for 20 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Shirley Derstine (Dennis), Birdsboro, Howard P. Harig, Jr. (Angela), Schuylkill Haven, Debbie Harig (companion Robert Kreager), Schuylkill Haven, Paul Harig (Connie), Summit Station, Joanie Cortelyou (Tim), Herndon; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; siblings Jane Wertz, William Harig and Carlee Harig.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc. , Schuylkill Haven, at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 12th,with Pastor Larry Baker officiating.
A viewing for family and friends will be held Wednesday 6-8 pm and 9:30 am until the time of the service at the funeral home Thursday.
Interment will be in Summer Hill Cemetery.
