Leon John Buber, 88, of Wayne Township, PA, passed away Friday, August 3rd, at The Gardens at York Terrace, Pottsville.
Born in Minersville, PA on April 11, 1930, he was a son of the late Stiney & Agnes (Jones) Buber.
He was the widower of Helen M. (Moyer) Buber, his wife of 50 years.
Leon was a graduate of Lewellyn High School and had served in the United States Navy from 1950 - 1954.
He had been employed as a forklift operator at Whippany Paper Mill, and later worked as a molder, assembler, and pourer for Penn Steel, Hamburg.
Leon was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, and also attended St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Cressona.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed raising pidgeons.
Leon is survived by step-son, Barry Zimmerman, grandchildren: Tammie, Todd, & Troy Saunders, Deborah, David, Randy, Richard, Robin, Diane, & Cindy Zimmerman, numerous great-grandchildren, and a sister, Bernice Anderson.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is also preceded in death by his step-children: Clair Zimmerman, and Barbara (Zimmerman) Saunders.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home, Cressona, at 12 noon on Wednesday, August 8th.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.
Interment with military honors will immediately follow the service at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
