Nora Elizabeth George, 62, after a long struggle with leukemia, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at her home in Lake Wynonah, the morning of November 29th. Born July 9, 1955 in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Julia and Francis Hoffecker, with whom she will now be reunited with in Heaven. On May 8, 1982, she married Anthony Joseph George and together they raised her son, Christopher.
For the majority of her life, Nora worked as a Nurse at Rest Haven Nursing Home, until she was diagnosed with cancer in December of 2012. Nora dedicated her whole life helping others and will be remembered as the most thoughtful, caring, and courageous person her family has ever known; she was taken from us far too soon. Nora is survived by her husband Anthony George, her son Christopher George, husband of Mary (McInerney) George, and the joys of her life - her 4 grandchildren; Haleigh, Trinity, Delaney, and Christopher II.
At Nora’s request, only a private family memorial service will be held, however a mass will be dedicated in her honor at her parish, St. Ambrose Church in Schuylkill Haven. If desired, friends may make memorial donations in Nora’s name to the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge in Cheltenham (Philadelphia), PA.
