Robert G. Krell

Robert G. Krell, 88, of Pottsville, passed away in his home,  peacefully in his sleep on October 14, 2018.

Born in Pottsville on May 19,1930, he was the son of the late Conrad Krell and Elsie (Keifer) Krell.  He was proceeded in death by his wife of 46 years, Kathryn (Williams) Krell, his daughter, Robin Krell, his brother Floyd Krell, three sisters, Irene Dillman, Geraldine Kutz, and Beatrice Deri, and his son in law, John Joyce.

He graduated from Pottsville High where he was known as a talented basketball player.  He worked in construction and was a member of the engineers union.  He tended bar at many local drinking establishments.  Later in life, he worked as a custodian for the Pottsville Area school District.  After his "retirement" he worked for Seider's printing and Dr. Ravitz.  

His father had passed away before Robert was born. He became the head of the household at the tender age of 15 after the death of his brother, Floyd.  He cared for his mother until her death in 1968.  He remained dedicated to his sisters his entire life.  Last year, he welcomed his first great grandchild into the world. Pop pop spent his last hours on this earth playing with Louie and watching him take his first steps.  

He is survived by two daughters, Georgine Joyce of Cressona, Kathryn Kay Krell of Port Carbon, her fiancee, Mike Garland, four grandchildren, Alyssa (Phillips) Frie and her husband Jerome, Dylan Conrad Schreader, Kaitlin Wensus and  Veronica (Peggy) Joyce,,a great grandson Louis Minrod, his puppy, Snowball Krell, and dozens and dozens of nieces and nephews.  Bob, Robert, Krellie, Pop Pop, Unc was well loved by many and will be sadly missed.  

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven, on Friday, October 19 at 10 am.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5 - 7 pm and Friday, 9 am until the time of service at the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Cressona Cemetery.
