Anthony Thomas Hughes, 80, of Schuylkill Haven passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown Campus.
Tony was born in Pottsville on November 21, 1945, a son of the late Anthony T. Hughes, Sr. & Clara Violet (Smith) Hughes.
A graduate of Pottsville Area High School, Tony earned an Associate's Degree from Thompson Institute.
He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, honorably discharged as a SGT.
Employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; Tony had worked at Hamburg Center as a Residential Services Aide.
He was a longtime member of the Schuylkill Christian Church, Schuylkill Haven. Tony was also a member of the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum.
He was very proud to donate blood regularly.
Tony is survived by his daughters: Andraia Detweiler, Frackville, Jessica Valosin, wife of Christopher, Pottsville; grandchildren: Danielle Guldin, Alexandra Detweiler Sands, Lucian Valosin; great-grandchildren: Logan and Lincoln Guldin, Leighton Sands and 1 on the way; wife, Helena Hughes, nieces and nephews and their families; and friends that are like family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Blaine Hughes and Eva Stone.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, August 10th at Lord Ebling Haus Funeral Home, Inc in Pottsville with Rev. Steve Letcavage officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 AM until time of services. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
At the family's request, memorial donations in Tony’s memory may be forwarded to Mid-Atlantic Air Museum: 110 Air Museum Drive, Reading PA 19605.
