Cecilia Marie Burns, 86, of Pottsville, passed away on Tuesday, August 11th, at home with family by her side.
Born in Shenandoah on November 23, 1939, Cecilia was a daughter of the late Hubert and Cecilia (Goff) Muldowney.
Cecilia was the widow of Joseph F. Burns. He preceded her in death October 1, 2025.
In addition to her parents and husband, Cecilia was preceded in death by her brothers: Hubert, Patrick and Joseph Muldowney.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville.
Cecilia graduated from Sunbury High School.
She worked at the former Pomeroy's and then United Cerebral Palsy, in addition to her work as a homemaker.
Cecilia is survived by three children: Joann Burns, wife of Michael Pogirski, of Pottsville; Joseph F. Burns, Jr., husband of Christine, of Orwigsburg; and Bridget Burns, of Pottsville. She is also survived by grandchildren: Matthew Seltzer, fiancé of Kelley Novogratz; Michael Seltzer, husband of Danyelle; Cassidy Burns; Ethan Burns, fiancé of Randi Conard; Reese Burns; Jani Burns, fiancé of Damien Whalen; Jasper Burns; Jakob Burns, fiancé of Morgan Kromanocker; Nicholas Kerby, husband of Maddie Consugar; Carter Kerby; Joseph Schwartz & Faith Schwartz; great-grandson Harvey Joseph Whalen and soon-to-be great-grandmother to Rhett David Seltzer and Baby Burns; brother, Thomas Muldowney, husband of Maggie, Schuylkill Haven, James Muldowney, husband of Judy, Pottsville; sister-in-laws, Annmarie Zinda (Steven), Kathi Muldowney, Pottsville; brother-in-law, Kevin Burns (James Rayner), Media; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 22nd at Lord Ebling Haus Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Pottsville. A Visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of service. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
