Doris L. Moyer, 90, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.
Born in Pottsville, Sept. 5, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel Lombel. She was the widow of William R. Moyer, who passed away in 1987.
She was a 1943 graduate of Pottsville High School, where she helped start up the girls' basketball team, as well as a Saturday evening dance club at the YMCA.
Doris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, where she was involved with many groups, and was a Sunday school teacher for 21 years.
She was formerly employed by Alcoa, Cressona, and the voting board of Schuylkill County, 1971-1996.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy A.; brothers, Francis J. Lombel and Morris Lombel; a sister, Nancy Heffner.
Doris is survived by a son, Craig Moyer, husband of Donna, Downingtown; granddaughters, Sarah Moyer and Lauren Moyer, both of Downingtown, and Alison Moyer, Miami; a grandson, Ryan Moyer, Downingtown; a great-grandson, Alexander Moyer, Miami; nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, with the Rev. Harold Hand and Vicar Chris Rothharpt officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. At the family's request, memorial donations may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 300 W. Arch St., Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
