Edward L. Hummel Sr., 94, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at home.
Born in Schuylkill Haven, Dec. 18, 1921, he was a son of the late Henry L. and Gertrude Deibert Hummel.
He was the widower of Jeanette L. Hummel.
Ed was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, Class of 1939. He had been the owner and operator of Hummel Buick.
He served in the Army Air Corps as a 2nd lieutenant during World War II.
Ed was a lifetime member of First United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven.
He is survived by two sons, E. Lewis Hummel, Schuylkill Haven, and Henry H. "Hank" Hummel and his wife, Audrey, Reading; a sister, Phyllis Mattern, Nebraska.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Shawn VanDyke officiating. At the family's request, memorial donations in Ed's name may be sent to First United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 110 Rt. 61 South, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
