Eula Mae F. Koperna

Eula Mae F. (Dennis) Koperna, 99, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Thursday, April 24th, at home.

Born in Florence, SC on January 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Atlie (Hutchinson) and Clyde Dennis.

Eula was the widow of Andrew Koperna who passed away in 2018.

She attended Willow Creek School in Florence County, SC.

Eula was employed as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co. during World War II in Florence, SC. 

In Pennsylvania, she worked as a sewing machine operator for many years.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.

Eula was an avid bowler and talented cook, especially known for her Southern dishes.

Eula is survived by two sons, Roger and Andrew Koperna, and a daughter, Patricia Miller. She is also survived by grandchildren: Cody Koperna, Kelly Spangenberger, Anissa Koperna, Jeremy & Marc Gustitus, Natalie Plueger; and great grandchildren: Vincent & Max Koperna, Alex & Raven Womer, Logan, Brady, and Luke Gustitus, and Adam & Owen Plueger.

In addition to her parents and husband, Eula is preceded in death by grandsons, Matthew and Blaine Koperna; a daughter, Linda Bryden; brothers, Wilbert, Jimmy, and Everet Dennis; & sisters, Clyda Conley, Sybil Cooke, Alice Maxwell, Elizabeth Rollins, and Margaret Phillips.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 5th at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Schuylkill Haven with Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik officiating. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:15 until 10:15 AM. Interment will follow at Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Pottsville.
