Jean C. Hoover, 84, of Cressona, passed away Tuesday, April 14th, at home surrounded by her family.
Jean was born in Reading, PA on September 14, 1941, a daughter of the late Allen C. & Catherine L. (Scanlan) Wolfe.
Married nearly 65 years, she was the loving wife of Bruce M. Hoover.
Jean was a 1959 graduate of Pine Grove High School, and also graduated from Central Penn Business School, Harrisburg.
She lived her faith through her longtime commitment to the congregation of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Cressona. She served as a member of Consistory and participated in lay fellowship.
Jean worked as a secretary at Indiantown Gap, and the Blue Mountain High School cafeteria.
In addition to her husband, Jean is also survived by three daughters: Valerie J. Wessner, Cressona, Eleanor Madigan, Towanda, & Catherine Woleschok, wife of Robert, Cressona, grandchildren: Jessica Knox (Matthew), Nicole Cook (Thomas), Morgan Madigan, Danae Madigan, Jacqueline Woleschok (Jaime Avalos) Cassandra Phillips (Sean), Jacob Woleschok, & Elizabeth Woleschok, great-grandchildren: McKinley, Waylan, Cameron, Mia, Samuel, Emerson, Milo, & Sean, Jr., and her sister, Barbara Huntzinger, wife of Carl, Pine Grove.
In addition to her parents, Jean is also preceded in death by her grandson, Wade Vaughn Wessner (Rebecca).
She was a devoted wife, Mom, Nan, & Great-Nanny. Nothing brought her more happiness than a full house of family and a crowded dinner table. Jean’s life was a testament of love for her children and grandchildren as she never missed any of their events. She loved tending to her garden and was known for singing and whistling any tune.
Jean was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Orwigsburg Chapter #424 where she served every officer position multiple times over the years, including Worthy Matron.
Jean was a Cressona softball coach and a member of the Cressona Historical Society.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April 24th at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home, Cressona with Jennie Strauch officiating. A Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cressona Cemetery.
The family prefers remembrances in the form of contributions to Amedisys Hospice 3897 Adler Place, Building C, Suite 180 Bethlehem, PA 18017.
