John R. "Sonnie" Gradwell

John Robert Gradwell, 81, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Wednesday, June 2nd, at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown.

Born in Pottsville on October 7, 1939, he was a son of the late William & Louise (Bolton) Gradwell.

In addition to to his parents, he is also preceded in death by three brothers, and four sisters.

Sonnie was married to Beverly J. (Schaeffer) Gradwell for 52 years. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two daughters: Brandi Lea, wife of Jeremy Eyster, of York, PA; and Maria Lorena, wife ofMike Collins, of Delaware, who he loved very much. He was a wonderful, loving Pop Pop to three granddaughters: Olivia, & Mia Eyster, and Elora Johnna Collins.

Sonnie was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven.

He was formerly employed as a press helper by Dana Corporation for 30 years until its closing. He was most recently employed by R & R Auto Group for 19.5 years.

Sonnie was a former driver, and loved attending races at Big Diamond Speedway. He enjoyed yardsaling, and camping at Rosemount Campground. He has a little dog named Mya who misses him dearly.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be heldat 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 9th at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc. in Schuylkill Haven, with Rev. David Rowe officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.

Interment will be held privately.
