John Dennis Wanchalk

December 20, 1940 — January 26, 2016

John Dennis Wanchalk, 75, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Jan. 26 at his residence.

Born in Pottsville, Dec. 20, 1940, he was a son of the late George and Helen Hudock Wanchalk.

He was the husband of Patricia Owens Wanchalk, whom he married May 19, 1972.

He attended St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.

Dennis served in the Navy as an HM3 (E-4) and received the FIRST Award and Good Conduct Medal.

He was formerly employed by Dana Corp. as a machine operator. After retiring from Dana, he was employed by PPL. He also delivered medications to nursing homes.

Dennis was an avid road bicycle rider in Southern Schuylkill County and was a member of Berks Bicycle Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Wanchalk; a sister, Janice.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters, Lori Myers, Sinking Spring, Jill Hubbert, wife of Brian, Fort Myers, Fla., and Monica Koch, wife of George, Schuylkill Haven; a son, James Wanchalk, husband of Carla, Downingtown; grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Abby and Alex Koch, Sara Hubbert, Carly, Ryan and Daniel Wanchalk; a great-grandson, Ayden Winstead.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, with Monsignor Edward S. Zemanik officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. At the family's request, memorial donations may be sent to St. Ambrose Church Memorial Fund, 201 Randel St., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
