Joseph John Kenney, Jr.

Joseph John Kenney Jr, 85, of Pottsville, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, Ohio.

Born in Pottsville on May 10, 1941, he was a son of the late Joseph J. and Kathryn (Bohannon) Kenney Sr.

Just two weeks prior, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Lois Ann Kenney.

He graduated from Nativity BVM and proudly served in the United States Navy.

He worked as a Dye Operator for Argo Mills for many years until its closing. He then worked as a Housing Inspector for the Schuylkill County Housing Authority for over a decade.

Joseph is survived by his son Scott Kenney, partner of Jenni Leber, Ohio; grandchildren Kyle Kenney and Kiara Wenner (Brandon); 3 great-grandchildren; a brother John Kenney, husband of Roseanne; a sister Carol Ganter; nephew Tim Seip (Starr) and niece Kelly Gajewski (Fred). He was preceded in death by his sister Joan "Tootie" Fenstermacher.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 17th at Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home, Inc. in Schuylkill Haven. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until the time of services. Interment with military honors will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
