Joseph Branch Worthington passed away on May 18, 2026, a month after celebrating his 34th birthday, transitioning from this earthly existence to eternal peace.
Born on April 18, 1992, in New York, New York, Joseph was the cherished son of Esther Branch Worthington and the late David Worthington.
Joseph's educational journey took place in the Berks County public school system, where he proudly graduated from Hamburg High School in 2011. Known for his strong work ethic, he held various positions at IWCO and RTM. His passion for construction was evident during his time at Allan Myers Construction Company, where he worked as a dedicated construction worker until his untimely passing.
Fondly known as "Purp" by those who loved him, Joseph's affinity for purple was well known. Purp, a fashion enthusiast, skillfully incorporated Burberry and Gucci into his wardrobe, whether it was clothing, glasses, or a watch. His love for family and friends was boundless, and he was known for his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Family gatherings were special to him, especially when accompanied by his mother's cheesecake, his sister Angela's lasagna, and his niece TT’s Haitian macaroni and cheese. A true sports fan, Joseph held a special place in his heart for the Minnesota Vikings.
Joseph had a music appreciation that mirrored his old soul, often playing "Just My Imagination" by The Temptations while embracing the sounds of contemporary artists like Future and Rod Wave. Purp was his nephew Fortune 16's biggest supporter, claiming no one could out-rap him.
Preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Marie Branch, as well as Lola Worthington and Aunt Pat Sumler.
Joseph leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory. His survivors include his mother, Esther Branch-Worthington; his sisters, Angela Worthington (Vladimir Sr.), Shymean Henderson, and Shyqueena Worthington; and his brothers, David Worthington Jr. and Jamel Worthington. His nieces, Tenille Gazemar, Tejana Gazemar, Summer Henderson, and Leanna Worthington, along with nephews Vladimir Gazemar Jr., Dashaun Sicard, Justin Worthington, Jayden Worthington, and Noah Worthington, will forever carry his legacy. Aunts Mary Coleman (Darren) and Elma Lofton (Ernest), uncles Charles Wiggins, Thomas "Tom" Worthington (Vera), Rodney Worthington (Silvia), and numerous cousins, friends, and coworkers, also mourn his loss.
Though Joseph is no longer with us physically, his spirit, warmth, and light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May his memory serve as an eternal beacon, guiding and inspiring those he leaves behind.
Take out your phone and take a “Selfie” just as Joseph would…
