Judith Ann Bodenberg

As a result of congestive heart failure, Judith A. Bodenberg, 73, of Cressona, passed away, surrounded by her family. She had been a patient at Reading Hospital when she was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 22nd. The eldest daughter of George S. & Margaret E. (Bubeck) Davis, Judy was born at the Warne Hospital in Pottsville on October 3rd, 1952.

She was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, class of 1970 and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Mansfield State College in 1974. The August after graduation, she became the loving wife of Lynn A. Bodenberg to whom she was married for 52 years.

She was employed as a 5th grade teacher by St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic School until her retirement. She was a skilled musician since the age of 12, having served as church organist and choir director at Trinity United Church of Christ, Pottsville, Flieglehorst Chapel in Germany, and at Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Schuylkill Haven from which she retired after having served there for 30 years.

She was a member of Grace E.C.C., Schuylkill Haven where she directed several choirs including the Cherub Choir, the Teen Choir, the Senior Choir, the Grace Quartet, and the Echoes of Grace. After her retirement she volunteered as pianist and director of the Golden Girls.

In addition to her husband, Judy is survived by three children: Jennifer L. Romberger, Pottsville, Rachel K. Brobst, New Ringgold and Scott M. Bodenberg, Reading and was the proud " Nana" of Chase R. Romberger, Victoria P. Konkus, Gabriel M. Bodenberg, Abigail E. Konkus, Kaylie P. Bodenberg, Bryce A. Bodenberg, and Brayden A. Romberger. Judy is also survived by two sisters: Georgeann Aton, Downingtown and Cheryl Gipe, Pine Grove as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her infant sister Karen Davis.

A viewing for family and friends will be held at Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Schuylkill Haven on Tuesday, September 29th from 5:00 to 7:00. PM. Following a second viewing on Wednesday, September 30th at 9:30 AM, a celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted by Rev. Ted Rathman at the church at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow the service at Cressona Cemetery. Afterwards a luncheon will be provided for any family and friends who wish to return to the church Fellowship Hall.

At the family's request, donations in Judy's memory may be forwarded to the Music Program at Grace EC Church, 151 Earl Stoyer St., Schuylkill Haven PA 17972.
