Leanne E. Marbarger, 76, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away on Monday, June 29, at Reading Hospital, West Reading.
Leanne was born in Pottsville on November 26, 1949, a daughter of the late John and Verna (Luckenbill) Marbarger.
She was a 1967 graduate of Blue Mountain High School and graduated from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1970. Leanne worked as a Registered Nurse in the Surgical ICU at Reading Hospital for 45 years, with a cardiac specialty and a passion for bedside care. Leanne always prioritized the compassionate care of all her patients and served as a respected mentor for her colleagues, and she was an invaluable source of medical knowledge for her family members and friends.
Since her retirement, she has enjoyed volunteering on service trips with Team Orwigsburg, gardening, traveling, and baking delicious cookies with her granddaughter. Having grown up on a farm, Leanne was hard-working, practical, and independent, and was never afraid to ask questions or take on a big challenge. She derived great satisfaction from helping others around her. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with family and being in nature, especially watching sunsets.
Leanne is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca Irelan, wife of Peter, and Kristen Zeiber; her beloved granddaughter, Ruby Irelan; three siblings, Linda Reading, Dennis Marbarger, husband of Debra, and Dean Marbarger, husband of Florence; and 4 nieces and 1 nephew and their families.
In addition to her parents, Leanne was preceded in death by her nephew, Brian Marbarger, and her brother-in-law, Dwayne Reading.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Marbarger Family Farm at a later date.
The family prefers remembrances in the form of contributions in Leanne's memory to Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA in Pine Grove.
