Dear Family and Friends,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Margaret E. Baransky, 87, of Cumbola, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Born on January 18, 1939, Margaret was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Brennan) McHugh.
She grew up in Buck Run, PA, and graduated from Nativity BVM. At the age of 42, she pursued higher education, beginning at Penn State then transferring to Alvernia College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in social work.
Margaret was a faithful member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Cumbola and later Holy Cross Parish in New Philadelphia.
She dearly loved her work at Heisler’s Dairy Bar and Mini Golf, where she spent over 30 years and cherished the many connections she made along the way. Margaret had a unique gift for making connections with everyone she encountered, and she cherished her friends much like she did her rocks, recipes, and glass—with immense love and enthusiasm. She also enjoyed camping, traveling, and learning, though her greatest joy was always her family.
She is survived by her children, Anthony Baransky, Daria Baransky, and Susan Baransky; her grandchildren, Kimberly Baransky and Ian Baransky; her nieces and nephews; and David Manton.
In addition to her parents and her uncle, William Brennan, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony Baransky, and her granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Baransky.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, October 9th at the Haus Bartashus Funeral Home, 63 Kimber St, New Philadelphia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 10th at Holy Cross Catholic Church, New Philadelphia.
An additional visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until time of Mass on Saturday, October 10th.
Interment will follow at Saint Anthony's Church Cemetery, Cumbola.
