Mary Elizabeth "Liz" (Hayes) Killian, 88, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Saturday, May 1st, at her residence.
Born in Port Carbon on September 14, 1932, she was a daughter of the late William & Lillian (McCord) Hayes.
She was a graduate of St. Stephen's High School, Class of 1950. She was employed by Bell Telephone, Grants Department Store, United Cerebral Palsy and the Blue Mountain School District, where she retired in 1994.
She was the widow of Wilber C. "Bud" Killian, to whom she was married to for 59 years. She is also preceded in death by two brothers Patrick and William Hayes.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.
She is survived by four daughters, Shan Killian, Friedensburg, Margaret "Peggy" Killian, Schuylkill Haven, Mary Elizabeth Killian, Orwigsburg, and Melvia, wife of Craig Morrow, Orwigsburg; and two sons, Mark Killian, husband of Michele, Schuylkill Haven, and Charles Killian, husband of Susan, Auburn. Her suviving grandchildren include Patrick Killian, Orwigsburg, Lindsay, wife of David Giammaresi, Cressona, Kevin Killian, Michigan, Stephanie Killian, Carlisle, and Daniel Morrow, Orwigsburg; and great-grandchildren Lydia and Jonah Giammaresi.
Liz loved spending time with her family. She coached her daughters in cheerleading and was den mother for her sons' Cub Scout Troop. She and her husband were involved in football, basketball, and track boosters. Liz was involved in every activity her children were in. When she became a grandmother, she loved going to track meets, football, basketball, baseball, and softball games, as well as the plays that her grandchildren were in. She was excited to become a great grandmother and loved spending time with her great grandchildren. Liz was a loving and truly dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter and sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 5th at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Schuylkill Haven, with Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik officiating.
A viewing for family and friends will be held prior from 9:15 to 10:15 at the church.
