Mervin J. "Bud" Krammes

July 9, 1928 — October 28, 2017

Mervin J. "Bud" Krammes, 89, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Saturday at Luther Ridge, Pottsville, where he had been a resident.

Born in Cressona, July 9, 1928, he was a son of the late Ira D. Sr and Verna Miller Krammes.

He was the husband of Jean J. Felsburg Krammes, whom he married July 12, 1949.

Bud was a graduate of Cressona High School, Class of 1947, and had served in the Navy during the Korean War.

He had been a truck driver for Mark Yoder, Atlas Potter, and Hecla Machinery.

Bud was a member of Christ Church McKeansburg, where he served as deacon and elder for many years. He acted as the church cemetery treasurer for 21 years and enjoyed volunteering at the church's "famous" chicken barbecue fundraisers.

Bud also belonged to Cressona Gun Club and Cressona American Legion Post 286.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his son, Alan Krammes, in 2000; siblings, Kermit Krammes, Ira D. Krammes Jr. and Helen Rubright.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert J. Krammes and wife, Beth, Orwigsburg, and Brian W. Krammes and wife, Beth, Chesapeake, Va.; grandchildren, Kyle Krammes and wife, Lisa, Rebekah Ring and husband, Scott, Austin Krammes, Benjamin Krammes, Matthew Krammes and wife, Tiffany, Michael Sampere and wife, Jessica, and Michelle Sampere; great-grandchildren, Lily, Brody, Mackenzie, Noah, Ariana, Ava, Kyle, Aiden and Alana; a sister, Charolette Wookey, Pottstown; two brothers, Clarence Krammes, Cornwall, and Therold Krammes, Mechanicsburg.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ Church McKeansburg, with the Rev. Sunny Stock officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will follow the service in Christ Church McKeansburg Church Cemetery.
