Thomas F. Fickinger, 81, of Pine Grove, passed away Thursday, January 22nd, at Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Schuylkill Haven.
Born in Pottsville on September 16, 1944, he was a son of the late Thomas Franklin & Edna Elizabeth (Hartman) Fickinger.
He was the husband of Judith A. (Dubbs) Fickinger.
Tom was a 1962 graduate of Pine Grove High School and earned his associate’s degree in engineering from Penn State University.
For 38 years he worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer for Dupont.
Tom was a Free & Accepted Mason of the Pine Grove Lodge #409. He served as a councilman for the Pine Grove Borough and was proud of his accomplishments working with the water authority, police, and fire departments. Tom loved riding motorcycles, spending time at the gun range, and visiting with family.
Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera Ann (Hazmuka) Fickinger in 2001.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children: Jonathan Fickinger husband of Laura, Burlington, KY, Anne Hansford wife of Kevin, Cypress, TX and Linda Fickinger, Ebensburg, PA, grandchildren: Kate and Andrew Fickinger and Mathew and Zachary Hansford; his sister, Carol Winsheimer wife of Art, Harrisburg, and Judy's son Benedict Dubbs, Harrisburg and her grandchildren: Nathaniel and Alexander Dubbs.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, March 7th at 10:30 AM at Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
Tom’s favorite flower was carnations. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of Schuylkill Parks and Recreation for a bench and tree memorial at Sweet Arrow Lake; please indicate “memorial bench/tree” in the designation portion of the form, along with “in memory of Tom Fickinger.” Donations can be made online at www.fspr.org.
