Walter J. Tobash, 78, of North Manheim Township, passed away at St. Luke's Bethlehem, with family by his side on September 25, 2026.
Walter was born in Schuylkill Haven and graduated from Nativity BVM. Upon graduating from Brandywine College, he continued to cultivate his love of golf at Army Navy Country Club as an assistant to his uncle, and mentor Stephen Tobash. It was there he gave golf lessons to his future wife Darlene Tobash, to whom he was married to for 43 years before her death in 2013.
Walter's career as a PGA Pro took him to St. Michaels, MD as the head pro at Marthingham, a sales rep for various golf companies for over 20 years, a side quest of owning Sports Warehouse, and Hackers Haven Pro Shop with his wife, and finally as PGA Pro at Mountain Valley Golf Course until his retirement in 2015.
Tuner’s love for dirt track racing was a big part of who he was, and there was nowhere he would rather be than at Big Diamond Raceway on a Friday night or Grandview Speedway on a Saturday. He cherished the friendships he made along the way and the countless hours spent at the Station, swapping stories, sharing laughs, and simply enjoying time with his buddies.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father Walter J. Tobash Sr., his uncle and mentor Stephen Tobash; and several other family members.
Walter is survived by his daughter Kimberly Tobash (Scott Drobnick) of GA; a son Walter J. Tobash III (Jennifer Loftus) and their twins, his beloved grandchildren Madalynn and Walter MJ. Tobash IV; his true mother figure Alma Tobash; his best girlfriend and travel partner Pat DiCello; and many other family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the family's convenience.
Walter was an avid reader. At the family's request, donations can be made in his memory to: Orwigsburg Free Public Library, 216 W Independence St, Orwigsburg, PA 17961.
Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with arrangements.
