Dorothy A. "Dolly" (Holzer) O'Neill

Dorothy A. "Dolly" O'Neill, 82, of Pottsville, passed away Sunday, October 9th, at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown 

 

Born in Orwigsburg on March 19, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Eugene & Bertha (Wessner) Holzer.

 

She was the wife of William F. O'Neill, Sr.

 

Dolly was a graduate of Orwigsburg High School and was a homemaker.

 

She was the world's greatest grandmother and great-grandmother.  Her greatest accomplishment in life was her family.

 

She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, and belonged to the choir and was an originial member of the St. Ambrose Women's Group.

 

Dolly also belonged to the Over the Hill roller skating group. 

 

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by two daughters, Diane E. Crouse & husband, David, Deer Lake, and Karen M. Strickland & husband, James, Jr., Pottsville, and six sons; William F. O'Neill, Jr. & wife, Stacie, Pottsville, John D. O'Neill & wife, Patty, Orwigsburg, James P. O'Neill & wife, Patrice, Lenhartsville, Joseph M. O'Neill & wife, Diane, Pottsville, Jeffrey L. O'Neill & wife, Shelly L., Hamburg, and Patrick K. O'Neill, Schuylkill Haven.

She is also survived by grandchildren; Jason & Brian Crouse, Daniel O'Neill, Colleen (O'Neill) Segal, Katy O'Neill, Kelly (O'Neill) Nunemacher, Kyle O'Neill, Christopher O'Neill, Erin, Briana & Shannon Strickland, and Samantha & Victoria O'Neill, four great-grandchildren, as well as a sister, Catherine Teter, Orwigsburg, and a brother, Edgar "Dutch" Holzer, Georgia.

 

In addition to her parents, Dolly is also preceded in death by grandson, Joseph O'Neill, and siblings; Leroy, Albert, Russell, Carl & Richard Holzer, and Mildred Moyer.

 

A Memorial Mass will be conducted at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 17th, with Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik and Rev. Robert Reiley co-officiating.

 

A visitation will be held Monday from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. at the church.

 

Entombment will follow mass at St. Ambrose Mausolem.
