Lucille E. Gray

July 23, 1923 ~ June 14, 2015 (age 91) 91 Years Old

 

Lucille E. Gray, 91, of  Souderton, formerly of Hatfield, PA, passed away Sunday, June 14th, at Souderton Mennonite Home, Souderton. 

 

Born in Glenworth, PA on July 23, 1923, she was a daughter of the late David Roy & Florence (Stoyer) Smith.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William P. Gray, on May 5th, 2015.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by a brother, Glenn, and a sister, Thelma.

 

Lucille was a graduate of Pottsville High School and Penn State University, and had been employed as a home economics teacher.

In the late 1960’s, she attended Kutztown State College and received her elementary education certification.  She taught first grade for North Penn School District, retiring in the late 1980’s.

 

She was a member of Lansdale United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Women’s Circle.

 

Lucille was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the AAUW.  She was very artistic and enjoyed sewing, acryllic painting and knitting.

 

She was a pink lady and a volunteer for many years at the former North Penn Hospital, now the Abington-Lansdale Hospital.

 

Lucille is survived by two daughters: Sarah L. Gisondi & her husband, Albert, and Kathryn E. Musselman, widow of Brent, as well as five grandchildren: Michael & Matthew Gisondi, and Christopher, Laura & Erica Musselman, a brother, David Smith, and five nieces and one nephew.

 

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home, 26 Chestnut St., Cressona, on Friday, June 19th, at 2 p.m, with Pastor Max Jaouen officiating.

 

A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.

 

Interment will follow the service at Cressona Cemetery, Cressona, PA.

 

At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mailed to Lansdale United Methodist Church - 300 N Broad St, Lansdale, PA 19446, Grandview Hospice - 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960, or a charity of your choice.

 

A memorial service also will be held at the Lansdale United Methodist Church, 300 N. Broad Street, Lansdale on Saturday June 20th at 2 p.m. with Pastor Max Jaouen officiating.
