Raydelle H. Berger, 92, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday at Providence Place Retirement Community, Pottsville, where she had been a resident.
Born in Friedensburg, Nov. 9, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Emma Ryland Heffner.
She was the widow of Walter "Wally" Berger, past Pottsville police officer and Schuylkill County detective.
Raydelle was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, Class of 1941, and Ford Business School.
In 1942, she began working for the former American Bank, which would change names multiple times throughout her 45 years of service. On Oct. 1, 1987, Raydelle retired as vice president and trust officer of Meridian Bank.
She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Friedensburg.
Raydelle was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Orwigsburg Chapter 424, and served as a past matron. She also belonged to the Schuylkill Valley Past Matrons Association and the Red Carpet Travelers. She was a past member of the Pottsville Club and Pennsylvania Banking Association, of which she served as past president.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her companion, Daniel Kimmel.
Raydelle is survived by her cousin and caretaker, Shirley Koenig, Pine Grove, as well as cousins, extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, with Pastor Peggy Sue Pfeffer officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. The family requests donations to St. John's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 86, Friedensburg, PA 17933, or Order of Eastern Star.
