Rita M. (Bettinger) Rehnert

Rita M. Rehnert, 96, of Pottsville, passed away Thursday at Providence Place Retirement Community. 

Born in Tremont, Nov. 8, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Cora Hossler Bettinger.

She was the widow of Eugene J. Rehnert, who passed away in 1999.

Rita was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son; a sister, Grace Werez; and a brother, Leo Bettinger.

Rita is survived by two daughters, Barbara Kull, widow of Edward, Mount Carbon, and Mary Ellen Schuetrumpf, wife of Carl, Lancaster; a son, James J. Rehnert, husband of Anna, Saint Clair; grandchildren, Susan McCord, Mount Carbon, Michael Kull, Pottsville, Christopher Rehnert, Summit Hill, and Neil, Ashley and Justin Schuetrumpf, all of Lancaster; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. David J. Loeper as the celebrant. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. At the family's request, memorial donations may be sent to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 913 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901 or a 
charity of your choice.
